Egyptian American Medical Association
The Egyptian American Medical Association (EAMA) was founded with the mission of creating a society where doctors and healthcare professionals of Egyptian descent can gather together, strengthen relations, increase medical knowledge, and give back to Egypt and the Egyptian community.
Our History
EAMA was officially founded on December 14, 2012 by Tarek Alshafie, M.D. The Association was granted nonprofit status on February 28, 2013 in the state of New York.
Dr. Alshafie noticed that there was no support system in place to facilitate interactions between Egyptian-American physicians to learn from their different experiences and help in guiding newcomers in their pursuit of medical careers in the United States. From this goal, EAMA was born.
Our Vision
We envision a united network of Egyptian American medical professionals, of the highest academic and moral standards, pursuing advancement and prosperity of the Egyptian and American society through leading and supporting ambitious educational, intellectual and charitable initiatives around the world.
Our Mission
The mission of EAMA is to empower and support Egyptian-American healthcare professionals through education, collaboration, and community service.
- Enhance medical knowledge and support continuing medical education
- Promote professional relations between the US and Egypt
- Provide medical aid to the poor and needy of Egyptian heritage
- Offer scholarships to needy medical students
- Provide cultural enhancement for members and families
- Create programs highlighting shared Egyptian heritage
- Promote role models to inspire and guide our youth
