Sponsorship Program Application Process

Our Sponsorship programs are available for Egyptian nationals or those of Egyptian descent. Please note that the number of sponsorship spots varies each year. Find more information about the different sponsorship categories, the selection criteria and application requirements below.

Application Process

Residency Match Sponsorship Program

Promising candidates are offered academic and/or financial sponsorship. Academic sponsorship entails career guidance sessions as well as interview preparation and application strategy sessions. Financial sponsorship involves proving a non-interest loan (up to $4000) to cover in part the expenses of the Residency Match.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Egyptian nationals or those of Egyptian descent seeking residency training in the USA who are in need of financial support.

  2. USMLE step 1 and 2 score more than or equal 220, as well as completion of the Clinical Skills exam. All exams must be passed from first attempt.

  3. ECFMG certified or expecting certification by October 15.

  4. Graduated from medical school with an overall grade of at least “very good”.

  5. Graduated within the last 3 years (calculated from the end of house officer year for Egyptian graduates)

  6. Planning to apply for this year’s match cycle.

  7. Valid US visa (B1/B2 acceptable), green card or citizenship.

  8. Preference is given to applicants with US clinical or research experience and/or significant extra-circular activities.


Clinical Skills Exam Sponsorship Program

Candidates are offered financial assistance to cover the expenses of the exam, travel and accommodation in the form of a non-interest loan ($1000 to $2400).

Selection Criteria:

  1. Egyptian nationals or those of Egyptian decent seeking residency training in the USA who are in need of financial support.

  2. USMLE step 1 and 2 score more than 220. All exams must be passed from first attempt.

  3. Graduated from medical school with an overall grade of at least “very good”.

  4. Graduated within the last 3 years (calculated from the end of house officer year for Egyptian graduates)

  5. Planning to apply for the match within the next 2 years.

  6. Valid US visa (B1/B2 acceptable), green card or citizenship.

  7. Preference is given to applicants with US clinical experience and/or significant extra-circular activities.


USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 Exam Sponsorship Program

Candidates are offered financial support in covering the expenses of the exam in the form of a non interest loan.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Egyptian nationals or those of Egyptian decent seeking residency training in the USA who are in need of financial support.

  2. Applicants are required to have completed any previous USMLE exam with a score 220 or higher.

  3. Level of training is fourth year medical student or above.

  4. For graduates, the applicant must have graduated within the last 3 years (calculated from the end of house officer year for Egyptian graduates)

  5. Planning to apply for the match within the next 3 years.

  6. Valid US visa (B1/B2 acceptable), green card or citizenship.

  7. Preference is given to applicants with US clinical experience and/or significant extra-circular activities.


Research Project Sponsorship Program

Those with accepted posters or oral presentations at regional or national meeting are eligible for mentorship and financial sponsorship. The chosen applicants will be mentored on poster preparation and presentation skills. He/she will also be granted half the price of the plan ticket.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Accepted abstract or oral presentation in a national conference in the US.

  2. Graduated from medical school within the last 15 years.

Applicants must provide the following:

  • Detailed curriculum vita (CV)

  • USMLE score report and ECFMG certificate (if applicable)

  • Graduation certificate (if applicable)

  • A statement of need delineating why the applicant wishes to pursue residency or research in the US and why he/she thinks they deserve this opportunity.

  • At least two academic references and their contact details.

  • Cell phone number.

Step 1: Online Application

Applicants must provide the following:

  • Detailed curriculum vita (CV)

  • USMLE score report and ECFMG certificate (if applicable)

  • Graduation certificate (if applicable)

  • A statement of need delineating why the applicant wishes to pursue residency or research in the US and why he/she thinks they deserve this opportunity.

  • At least two academic references and their contact details.

Step 2: Interview

After completing the application, those considered for sponsorships will be interviewed either in person or over the phone

*Applicants are only allowed to apply to one sponsorship category per application cycle.
