Dr. Tarek Alshafie
Dr. Tarek Alshafie graduated from Cairo University. He finished his surgical training and obtained a doctorate in surgery (PhD in surgery). Dr. Alshafie moved to the United States where he repeated his surgical training at Columbia University affiliated program. After Dr. Alshafie completed his general surgery training he pursued training in vascular surgery. Dr. Alshafie had a research fellowship in vascular disease at Columbia University and completed a vascular fellowship at the University of Arkansas.
Dr. Alshafie held academic appointment as an assistant clinical professor at Columbia University from 2003-2011. During this time Dr. Alshafie was involved in training residents and research. He was the Chief of Vascular Surgery at Harlem Hospital from 2004-2011. He then moved to private practice and founded Vascular and Endovascular Associates of NJ. Dr. Alshafie currently practices in Northern New Jersey hospitals and is currently an attending physician at The Valley Heart and Vascular Institute in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Dr. Alshafie has numerous publications and book chapters in vascular surgery. Dr. Alshafie is married and has 2 sets of twin girls. He is the president of the Egyptian American Medical Association.
